2014 write up for the Tea tent

The Grantastic Tea Tent has been a permanent fixture at Peace in the Park for the past six years and this year is back with a bang bringing you a whole lotta cake and tea wrapped up in the kitsch and the camp.

This year our Gran has been reflecting on some of her favourite country artists and performers, reminiscing about the time she saw Dolly Parton live in Nashville, Johnny Cash marry June Carter in Kentucky and sang “Fist City” with Patsy Cline as Loretta Lynn cheered them on. Ahhhh those were the days.

So expect the usual kitsch and the camp decorations, 40’s saucy tunes, 50’s rock and roll, doilies and plastic flowers all wrapped up with a liberal sprinkling of gingham……

The Tent is run by the Sheffield AgeUK Local Committee who raise money locally and give out grants to support vulnerable older people in Sheffield. With an ethos of making a difference at a local level every cup of tea or cake you eat will help older people in your community.  Can you think of a better excuse to eat cake?!
